What are the best deals for Pittsburgh Restaurant Week?

Let's connect on social media:

...and as the clock strikes noon on January 9th, Pittsburgh Restaurant Week is upon us.

Twice a year yinzers get the chance to try out some special menus at restaurants across the city. For the Winter 2017 session, over 60 restaurants in Pittsburgh are offering special menus (all of which can be seen on the Restaurant Week website).

The only issue: with over 60 places to choose from, how does one decide where to go? Well, never fear! I have spent the better part of the past 24 hours so deep in menus that I no longer know who I am.  I have meticulously compared the "deals" to the regular menus.

Two things to remember when considering where to go: Tips are not included in these prices, so tack on an extra $7 for any $35.17 meal, and $4 for any $20.17 meal. Booze are not included in most of these deals.  Some of these places are BYOB, which can save a few more dollars.

And.... one last thing - I understand food costs money.  Underneath all of the artsy plating and flaming cocktails, these are businesses.  I don't expect them to be handing out free filets.

HOW I DID THIS: If the exact item was on the menu, I used the actual price.  If not, I either used the price of a similar dish (another fish, another pasta), or I created an "average entree"or "average appetizer" price. Sometimes, I guessed on prices (usually desserts).  I did this by getting a sense of the menu, and setting a price based off of appetizer prices. In the spirit of Restaurant Week, I gave the restaurants the upper hand, and was generally conservative on prices.  If you don't like my math, I have included all menu links, and please email me with discrepancies: madeline@thegal-ivanter.com
