My 3 Favorite Dishes at the Cafe Carnegie in Pittsburgh

Let's connect on social media:

I was backpacking through Asia when the Cafe Carnegie was announced, but that didn't stop me from stalking the project endlessly, and plotting my first visit upon my return.

Well... I have been home for 2 and a half months, and I just went last week.  What took so damn long?  Great question!

As Pittsburgh's biggest Dinette fan, I would pretty much trust Sonja Finn with my first born child. Her involvement with the Cafe Carnegie was why I was so excited when I heard about the renovation, even though I was half way across the world in Vietnam.

Unsurprisingly, the Winter 2017 menu did not disappoint. Also, the interior is stunning.  This is the perfect place for any CMU/Pitt student to take their family for lunch. Here are the three dishes that I either enjoyed the most, or was the most intrigued by.

1. SALAD MIMOSA

With radish, avocado, shaved egg, fines herbs
This salad is literally just these ingredients^, with maybe a hint of dressing. So refreshing, I could eat this every day!

2. ROASTED LEG OF LAMB SANDWICH

With chickpea purée, escarole, on toasted rosemary garlic bread, shoestring fries
I didn't order this, but I am intrigued!

3. VEGETABLE POT PIE

With brussels sprouts, cremini mushrooms, pearl onion, carrots, butternut, red wine veloute, served with mixed lettuces
I didn't order this, but I am intrigued!

The full menu can be viewed on the Carnegie Cafe website.  They also serve brunch. Also, major congrats to Becca for her James Beard Award nomination!
