My 3 Favorite Dishes at Morcilla in Pittsburgh

Let's connect on social media:

If you don't know the deal, Morcilla in Lawrenceville is the second restaurant of acclaimed Pittsburgh chef Justin Severino (Cure), and one of "da hottest" places to eat in town.

Last night I visited Morcilla for second time.  I went with my parents about a year ago, right after it opened. I remember liking it, but not being overly impressed.

However, last night I had a really lovely experience. We went there for an Easter dinner. As it turns out, people who go to eat at nice restaurants on Easter are chill peeps (....get it?)

Oh wait. I need to mention the couple who sat on the same side of a two top table and made out the entire time.  That nearly ruined my meal. It would be one thing if it was Valentine's Day.... but Easter? Really?

OKAY, I digress (but can you blame me???)... without further ado....

MY THREE FAVORITE DISHES AT MORCILLA IN PITTSBURGH

1. SERRANO HAM

A couple of months ago, I made my list of "the Most Instagrammed Places in Pittsburgh," and this ham nearly made the list. People love this stuff, and moreover, they love taking pictures of it.

2. WHO COOKS FOR YOU FARM MESCLUN GREEN SALAD

You might be thinking, "What the hell? I'm at one of the best Spanish tapas restaurants in Pittsburgh, and you think I should order a salad? Buzz off, burghgal!"... to which I say... hear me out.

The dishes at Morcilla are rich and flavorful.  This salad is light, and the perfect palate cleanser.  It is really hard to eat meaty dish after meaty dish.  This salad breaks it up, and calms your stomach.

3. ALITAS DE POLLO EN ADOBO

These are some of the best chicken wings I've ever had.  Dry and tender, the meat was falling off the bone.... plus that salsa verde was REAL GOOD.

Also, excuse my photography.  Morcilla is pretty much the hardest place to take a picture in the entire universe.

I have tried a few other things, but those were really the only dishes that stood out to me. Do you have a favorite dish at Morcilla? I would love to hear it!

"My 3 Favorite Dishes..." series is my new way of reviewing restaurants in Pittsburgh. Basically, these are some things you won't regret ordering, and should consider checking out.
