A late-night lingerie boutique in Lawrenceville

Let's connect on social media:

Pulchra Intimates, a lingerie boutique on Butler Street in Lawrenceville, wants you to find your inner sexy.

Luckily, between framed underwear on the wall, plush sofas draped in fur, and racks of lacy lingerie, you won't have to look too hard to find it.

I was first introduced to Pulchra in early January when a friend was in town to perform at a show at Mr. Small's Funhouse.  Through her, I was invited to the show's afterparty. She told me it was at a nearby lingerie store name "Pulchra."

Outwardly I conveyed confusion, as I'd not heard of it.  Inwardly I thought, "Is this the musician lifestyle? After parties at lingerie shops? I'm not sure I can keep up with this."

However, once our Uber dropped us off,  my confusion immediately dissipated and was replaced with awe and wonder. There were hundreds of rose petals scattered on the sidewalk on Butler Street, and candles lining the entrance to the door.

This was by far the sexiest place I'd ever been, and I hadn't even walked through the door.

Unsurprisingly, once inside, the space continued to impress me. Pulchra revealed itself as a lingerie shop by day, intimate party space by night.

As someone who doesn't purchase lingerie often, a store like this could seem intimidating. However, it's quite the opposite. The atmosphere is intimate and familiar... but not so familiar that you're not curious about your surroundings.

Also, it's just plain stunning.

Even though I was only there for a few hours several weeks ago, the store stuck with me. It's such a special place, and completely feels like your own boudoir. With Valentine's Day coming up, I wanted to highlight Pulchra, as it's the perfect spot to find something special. But honestly, no matter the time of year, go check it out. You're guaranteed to leave feeling confident and excited.

The store's tagline (which is scrawled above the door) is "for the intrigued," and that aptly describes the attitude you should have when walking in.  Pulchra sells everything from gilded picture frames to vibrators, but the star of the show is the brand's signature lingerie collection. The store sells pieces from various lingerie companies, but Pulchra's owner Helen Hoey, also designed her own private label.

Aside from being beautiful, these pieces really exemplify the store. Each one makes you feel sexy and luxurious - just like the store itself.

And while luxury is certainly the vibe of the space, the price point is extremely affordable, especially for the quality of the pieces. No, really guys. Even as a freelance writer, I don't cringe at these prices.  Not matter if you're a lingerie veteran, or a first time buyer, you will be impressed with the quality and affordability.

Because the shop is all about discovery, walk in and peruse. There's no rush. Find something that speaks to you. Additionally, it is a fun to visit with you partner and pick out something together. Being located in Lawrenceville, it's easy to grab a drink and wander over to the shop, which is open until at least 10:00 p.m.  In fact, I happen to know a new Richard DeShantz restaurant just opened a few blocks away (Poulet Bleu). Go grab some drinks there, and then walk over to Pulchra. There. I just made your plans for you. You're welcome.

Many of the pieces are one size, which is great for purchasing as a gift. I also had the opportunity to wear a few items from the Pulchra collection, and I was beyond impressed. The quality and design were outstanding.

If you're interesting in learning more, follow their Instagram.... or just go check it out for yourself. As Pulchra's brand manager, Jay Barlow, says,

"There's no reason to not have beautiful underwear."

Pulchra is located just off of Doughboy Square, at the intersection of Penn, Butler, and 34th Street. The shop has "pursuing hours" Wednesday - Friday from 3:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m., Saturday from 3:00 p.m. - 11:00 p.m., and Sunday from 12:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.

As I mentioned above, I first visited the space as part of a private party. Pulchra is open to hosting private events, and incredibly talented at doing so. If you're looking for a private and sultry space for your next event, Pulchra has you covered.

Pulchra is in the process of opening their second store in Beverly Hills. You can also order pieces from their website

Thank you to the Pulchra team for taking the time to chat!
